The champagne reception, ceremony and cocktail hour will take place outdoors in direct sunlight with limited shade.

For the ceremony and formal photographs, we kindly request that gentlemen wear light-coloured suits (beige, taupe, sage, etc.) with matching trousers and jacket, worn with a tie; smart summer hats are permitted.

Ladies are requested to wear light-coloured dresses with a hat or headpiece; no casual sun hats or caps.

  • The seated banquet lunch will be held in a fully air-conditioned room, where jackets and ties may be removed once seated.

  • For the evening afterparty, a more relaxed style is welcome; however, gentlemen must wear collared shirts, tailored trousers and smart closed-toe shoes (no sandals).

Ladies may opt for elegant eveningwear appropriate for a summer celebration.

There are cloakroom facilities available at The Phoenicia and access to changing rooms between the Banquet and Soirée.

Travel Guidance

How do I get to Malta?

1

Malta is served by Malta International Airport (MLA), which has excellent connectivity from the UK, Europe and further afield. From London alone there are over a dozen flights daily, with direct services operating from both Heathrow and Gatwick. Major carriers including British Airways, Ryanair, easyJet and KM Malta Airlines all operate regular routes to Malta, with a flight time of around three hours from London.

For guests travelling from outside Europe, Emirates provide excellent global connections via Dubai, and Delta Air Lines operate direct flights between New York and Malta three times per week. We recommend booking early, particularly for peak summer dates.

How do I get from the airport to my hotel?

2

Upon arrival at Malta International Airport, official taxis are available from the airport taxi desk in the arrivals hall and operate on a fixed-fare system. A transfer to Valletta or St Julian’s typically costs around €20 and takes approximately 15–20 minutes, depending on traffic.

For travel throughout the wedding weekend, ride-hailing services such as Uber and Bolt are widely available, competitively priced and generally arrive within minutes. Many hotels can also arrange private transfers in advance should you prefer to pre-book.

Can I use public transport in Malta?

3

Malta’s public bus network, operated by Malta Public Transport, provides comprehensive and affordable coverage across the island. The airport is well connected to key areas including Valletta, Sliema and St Julian’s, with journey times typically ranging from 25 to 35 minutes depending on the route.

Single journey tickets generally cost between €2 and €3 and are valid for two hours, while visitors staying longer may prefer the seven-day unlimited “Explore” card, priced at approximately €21. Contactless payment is accepted on board, and tickets can also be purchased via the Tallinja app or from official sales points. Buses are modern, air-conditioned and reliable, although they can be busy during peak periods.

The Valletta Ferry Services operates a regular service between Sliema and Valletta across the harbour. The crossing takes approximately 5–10 minutes and runs frequently throughout the day. Tickets are inexpensive (typically a few euros each way), and you can purchase them at the terminal before boarding. The ferry offers excellent views of Valletta’s historic skyline and is often quicker and more scenic than travelling by road, particularly during busy periods.

Do I Need a Hire Car?

4

Not usually necessary if staying in Valletta, Sliema or St Julian’s. The entire island of Malta is around half the size of Greater London - ride-hailing apps are inexpensive and parking in historic areas can be very limited. However, if you plan to explore rural Malta or Gozo independently, a hire car can be useful.
